WaveBorn sunglasses and the Happiness Assembly

Last Wednesday I was invited on behalf of The Happiness Assembly – a women-led NGO created to encourage the pursuit of happiness and promote environmental, social and economic awareness – to a cocktail reception celebrating the opening day of the Women Leadership Summit. The reception was held at the residence of the Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations H. E. Dr Palitha Kohona, who was an outstanding host and supporter for such a noble cause.

The evening unfolded wonderfully thanks to a few sponsors, including amazing sushi from Sen NYC and delicious sake cosmos (?!). I was incredibly inspired to be surrounded by such passionate people that make a difference in women’s lives around the world. It’s saddening to see the western hemisphere often forgetting how lucky this part of the world is. We all complain of petty problems and minor concerns, when most of the planet is running low on food, water and having their basic needs met. Which is why one sponsor in particular really caught me eyes – both literally and figurately. The Italian manufactured WaveBorn sunglasses are not only slick and comfortable; they do good as well.

When you purchase a pair of Waveborn shades, you are also giving back. The company will then donate a pair of new eyeglasses to local eye clinics in Ghana or contribute to a sight-restoring surgery. By getting these designer quality shades (but not at designer prices), you’ll do someone in Africa, who is not as lucky as you are, a world of good. By partnering up with Unite for Sight and SEE International, people that would have not had any chance for a better vision, now do, thanks to you.

I had the pleasure to try a few of them on, and play guess the shade along with the Happiness Assembly co-founders and H.E. Ambassador Dr Palitha Kohona. Can you tell we had way too much fun with it?
