The winds of change, inside and out

As I watch the leaves falling, gracefully dancing into the air, rapidly changing colors and announcing a new season, I can’t help think that so am I.

Fall in NYC

With several trips now behind me, and plenty of change to last me for this year and the next, I thought I would be writing every day, sharing the many ways in which my heart filled up with sheer content. Instead, I had nothing to say. I felt overwhelmed, waiting as the leaves falling, for the inspiration to drop. I waited in vain.

Not sure if it’s travel burnout, as my friend Nomadic Matt was saying in his latest newsletter, or simply writer’s block, but sometimes you have nothing to say. As my to do list was getting increasingly longer, I on the other hand couldn’t get a word out. I had just been to five countries within a few short weeks, while also doing work on the road. Coming back into NYC, a tornado hit me. I had to move within a week, with no place in sight. I took drastic measures of donating most of my belongings – eight years worth of belongings, mind you – and frantically started looking for a new home. I got sick and terribly worried. But alas, something came up last minute. I finally felt at peace, relieved and grateful. Grateful for all that I had experienced, grateful for great friends and all their support, grateful to be now discovering yet a new neighborhood. Thank you for sticking by me and for all your comments, despite my complete silence.

Fall in Upstate New York

As I settle down in my new home, or at least try to before my next big trip, I am thankful for new beginnings …

Stay tuned for stories from my travels through Croatia, Montenegro, Italy, Greece and Romania, my next Gogobot NYC event this November and a big announcement.

Won’t be long, I promise!
