An Instagram story on Design on a Dime 2012

My good friends from Kwittken PR invited me this past Thursday at the much-awaited Design on a Dime annual event, opening with a VIP Reception. Much to my disappointment, I could not honor the invite for the evening star-studded Benefit, courtesy of HomeGoods; I did, however, attend the mid-afternoon Press Preview.

I knew the event would be a major success, given the list of over 50 amazing designers participating. What I certainly didn’t expect was meeting my favorite designer and TV personality Genevieve Gorder. She designed a booth for Valspar, one of the event’s sponsors.

Given my DVR overload with Dear Genevieve shows, it goes without saying how pleased and giddy I was seeing Genevieve walking towards me. She is as sweet and approachable as I imagined her to be. Having agreed on how cool Eastern Europe is and reminisced our mutual connections to it, we moved inside her eye-catching booth, vibrating with energy from the Luscious Green walls, citrusy yellow accents, white Chinese screens, and pops of black & white. The vignette could not be more stunning, in typical Genevieve fashion, I might add!

Moving past Genevieve’s booth, I stumbled across my old friends from HomeGoods, which had partnered with the wonderful Evette Rios, acclaimed interior designer and ABC’s The Chew correspondent. Evette cleverly designed Kate Middleton and Prince William’s Soho loft, full with an eclectic dining room, a posh living room, an elegant office and a delightful nursery, assorted with British elements.
