A Brief Resort Guide: Davos, Switzerland

Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the alpine paradise of Davos is world-famous, owing to its incredible scenery and diverse appeal. From cycling holidays to walking breaks, summer in the mountains can’t get much better and with so much on offer, Davos is an absolute must for any outdoor enthusiast.

Divided into two separate parts, Platz and Dorf, the main street of Davos provides a lively centre for a mountain break. Vibrant pubs and restaurants provide plenty of great cuisine, while the shops in the area help to supply you with everything that you could possibly need.

Cable cars are available, helping to make accessible various walking and cycling routes, while the mountain railways help to expand your reach to over 700km (435 miles) of walking trails. The Davos Inclusive card is well worth investing in if you want to explore as much as possible, by allowing you free travel on local buses, trains and cableways. The card also gives you access to a line-up of free activities.

Hiking in Davos

All the mountain lifts and railways are suitable for cyclists, with over 1300km (800 miles) at their doorstep. Whether you wish to enjoy leisurely rides along winding lanes as you feast your eyes on the breathtaking vistas, or you fancy something a little more challenging (such as the 6km Gotschna trail to Klosters), there’s bound to be something to suit.

Mountain biking is also popular in the area, with plenty of trails available which put the pedal to the metal. If you fancy something a little different, Lake Davos is a hub of activity, providing watersports aplenty for those with an affinity for thrilling water-based fun.
