Coney Island New York City

Whimsical Tales of Travel is a New York City-based travel and lifestyle blog. Combining travel tales with cultural whimsy, I was featured as a Top 20 New York City-based Travel Blogger by TripAdvisor’s Flipkey for 2015.

I am a twenty-something thirty year-old native Romanian that has learned to call New York home, after nine years of living in the Big Apple. I am one of those restless types; the more I do, the more I need to do and see. I started this blog as a way to document my travels and the things that inspire me. As a Gemini that can’t sit still, I am a spontaneous avid traveler, always hunting for whimsy.

While studying media and journalism in college, I got my start working at some of the media greats: Viacom and CBS News. I also got my hands dirty reporting for the Hunts Point Express, from the South Bronx, of all places. To complement my days of news writing and broadcasting, around 2009 I tapped into the exciting world of online media. Along came Gogobot, and hundreds of postcards and reviews later, taking the wheel as Gogobot NYC’s Community Manager.

Why Whimsical?

My favorite word in the English language – whimsical – has defined my trademark over the years and my pursuit for the whimsical aesthetic. I see whimsy in a turquoise door, a telling mural, a quaint neighborhood, a watercolor illustration. Above all, in architecture and eclectic design. Local artisanry, fabrics, color galore and retro décor all sums up my love for a whimsical palette.

Places I’ve called home: my native Bucharest, Romania; New York City for 9 years; Madrid, Spain for a Study Abroad semester; Shanghai, China for an internship.

My favorite destination in the world? Cuba!

Craziest destination yet? Clearly, Papua New Guinea
